Regal Cinema

The Regal Cinema was opened in 1939. It was built for and operated by A. Austin Pilkington, who also operated the Palace Cinema in this small Wiltshire town. It had an attractive brick facade in an Art Deco style. Inside the auditorium, the proscenium was 36 feet wide.

It was taken over by the independent Vale Cinemas chain by 1943, and was closed in 1959. The front of the building was removed, and it became a garage.

Operated by Vale prior to 1945 as they are listed as proprietors in the 1944 KYB as well. s this publication was prepared in advance of production, Vale must have been owners in 1943 as a bare minimum.
