A second run theatre, the Showplace Theatre was located in the Bethany Square Shopping Center on the NE corner of W. Bethany Home Road and N. 43rd Avenue. It was a twin theatre and was opened on May 26, 1976 with Roy Scheider in “Jaws” in screen 1 and Richard Boone in “Against a Crooked Sky” & Leif Erickson in “Winterhawk” in screen 2. It closed as the Showplace $1.50 Theatre on September 3, 1985 with Richard Pryor in “Brewsters Millions” & Chevy Chase in “Fletch” in screen 1 and Eddie Murphy in “Beverly Hills Cop” & Demi Moore in “St. Elmo’s Fire” in screen 2.
