The screen was once damaged by a fire on the evening of March 10, 1983, but was reconstructed just in time for the start of that year’s season. It was later confirmed that 1983 is the Sunset’s final year, closing on October 2, 1983.

Boxoffice, April 26, 1952: “The Mount Vernon Drive-In on Road 62 has reopened for the season under the management of new owners John and Stephen Miles and Mary and Joe Nickelick. They also own and operate the Sunset Drive-In on Highway 41 north of Evansville."

A 2018 Google Street View shows the marquee has been taken down.

The marquee is still sitting at roughly 1999 IN-61, Winslow, Indiana as of September 2012 Google Street view.

Most ramps are still there as well as the concession foundation. The screen is gone.
