West Point Drive-In

The West Point Drive-In was located about one mile north of West Point. It was opened on September 6, 1947 with Phil Regan in “Sweetheart of Sigma Chi” and was operated by V.P. Tierno. By 1955 it was operated by John B. Cowles & Monte Pilcher. It was closed on September 3, 1966 with Don Knotts in “The Ghost and Mr Chicken”.

The Motion Picture Daily shows an opening year of 1947 also.

Opened on September 6, 1947 with Elyne Knox in “Sweetheart Of Sigma Chi” (unknown if extras added).

A closer address is 3178 King William Ave, West Point, VA.

Google Maps has updated their addresses and this puts it right on the property.

As of September 2024, Southridge Plaza sits on the property. And apart from the entrance and exit roads, no trace of the drive-in remains
