During its early days as a single-screener, the Village was notable for its 91-week run of “The Sound Of Music” from June 23, 1965 until March 23, 1967.

Correction: The Village Twin Theatre closed for the final time on January 31, 1998, not October 5, 1995.

It was last owned by Ted Bare alongside his company known as “Dan Marchetta Realty Inc.”, who also operated several other movie houses across Northeast Ohio including the Garrettsville Cinemas, the Medina Twin Theatre, the Highland Square Theatre in Akron, the Linda Theatre in Goodyear Heights, and the Falls Theatre in Cuyahoga Falls.

The Village Theatre opened about 1965. It was owned by Ed Rabb’s Acme Amusement Corporation, which also operated the Ascot and Starlight Drive-In Theatres.

A picture of the theater’s exterior sign as of 1989 can be seen here. The theater was opened by National General and then operated by Mann Theaters before TBE.
