The Highland Mall Cinema I & II was opened November 21, 1973. In 1989 it was renamed Highland Dollar Cinema. It was closed on March 31, 1991. Operating seasonally as a haunted house.

This was where Return of the Jedi opened in Austin, and I was there opening day. The bigger auditorium was big, but not as big as The Americana. I believe capacity was 650 or so, and it was a great place to experience a film.

This opened on November 21st, 1973 and closed down in 1989. Grand opening ad in the photo section.

It was actually renamed Highland Dollar Cinema in 1989, and closed on March 31, 1991.
