Cinema Vittoria

Built in 1936 the Cinema Vittoria was in a “Littorio” style. It used to be a first run cinema, one big auditorium with a smallish screen and good sound. It did not survive the progress, the area had plenty of cinemas and with no parking and the wrong films shown, it met its doom in 2003 when it was closed down.

I was the projectionist at Cinema Vittoria between the years of 1999 to 2002. Cold in Winter and super-hot in summer (there was no Air Conditioning) it was very outdated but the owner did upgrade the projection and sound system over the years so the actual cinema experience was pretty good. It was sad to see the cinema being demolished, I somehow hoped I could return to it for a visit later in life but there is an apartment block now.
