Opened on June 13th, 1990, by TMI Theatres. Grand opening ad posted.
It was a shame when this theater closed. My 10 year-old son saw his first movie in a theater here - Detective Pickachu, among several others over the next couple of years. The lobby and auditoriums were spacious and clean; the space surprising since it feels so tucked away on the side of the shopping center. It also had a very late 80s, early 90s vibe, no stadium seating - just a good old-fashioned theater. I also liked that they sold popcorn buckets for movies that have already come and gone at a fraction of the cost in first run theaters.
I get it - COVID knocked out any business during most of 2020. And second run theaters can only last if they’re getting enough business. As this one seemed hidden away, I can’t imagine there being enough people patronizing the place. Too bad - it was my favorite local theater.
