The eight-screen Mill Creek Cinema, developed by the Minor Theatre Corp., opened on November 7, 2003. The Eureka Times-Standard noted that for the first time citizens would not have to drive to Eureka or Arcata to see a first-run movie. Minor Theatres said the Mill Creek Cinema, its fourth in Humboldt County, was a newer and larger version of the Broadway Cinema in Eureka.
The Times-Standard reported in April of 2006 that Dave Phillips, his wife LouAnna, and partner Mike Thomas were selling the Mill Creek Cinema and three other theaters to Coming Attractions Theaters, Inc. Phillips said that John Schweiger of Coming Attractions was a trusted friend. It was closed on June 1, 2025.
