The Beatrice Daily News reported on the opening of Frank Hollingsworth’s Grand Theatre on August 2, 1936. Mr. Hollingsworth was also the owner of the Rialto Theatre in Beatrice. The Film Daily Year Book of 1945 listed the Grand Theatre with 250 seats. It was closed in August 1957.

In July of 1972 the Sun reported that the unoccupied Grand Theatre had been condemned by the fire marshal and the new owner had 90 days to make repairs. Apparently the Grand Theatre never reopened again and the location today would be the empty lot next to Gambles.
