Starplex Cinemas opened the Kingwood Movies 14 on June 18, 2010. On December 22, 2012, the theater was taken over by ShowBiz Cinemas and it was noted in the Kingwood Observer that it would be business as usual with no interruptions.
On March 18, 2014, ShowBiz celebrated the opening of a Superior Digital Experience (SDX) auditorium, which was designed by Partners in Architecture, the orignal Starplex architect. The 300-seat SDX includes a floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall 70-foot screens and immersive Dolby Atmos sound.
At the time of the renovations every seat in all of the auditoriums was replaced. They now serve beer, wine, mixed drinks, hamburgers, pizza and other offerings.
