Rosemount Gardens

The first Rosemount Gardens opened in 1920 next to the Rosemount Hotel on the other side of Fitzgerald Street, on a site leased from the hotel. The first Gardens had 1,100 seats. When the lease run out(1949, or early-1950’s?) the gardens closed and the hotel bar extended onto the site. The second Rosemount Gardens was built at 360 Fitzgerald Street. The gardens closed in 1960. The front of the gardens is still there, it became a mechanics yard named West Car Auto Service & Mechanical Repairs, which had closed by 2023.

The Rosemount Hotel(where the first Rosemount Picture Gardens was next to the hotel) is still there on the corner of Fitzgerald Street and Angove Street.

The side and back fences and the yard area behind the front facade may be original too?

The bio box is still there above the the entrance and exit doorway in the middle of the facade on the ground level. The steps leading up the inside of the bio box are still there seen from the inside of the yard seen in one of the real estate photos in the photo gallery. This building should be heritage listed(if it isn’t already?) along with the old Rosemount Theatre further up Fitzgerald Street. The old Rosemount Gardens, and Rosemount Theatre might be the only remaining old picture gardens, and picture theatre building(built separately) to survive in tact in the Perth metropolitan area(unique?)?

I think the ticket booth(and offices?) are still there too on the right inside the entrance doorway? Maybe the old toilets still survive too inside that facade/bio box building as well.
