The Cinema 1 & 2 was opened by Westland Theatres as “The World’s Most Comfortable theatres” on December 22nd, 1971 with “Diamonds are Forever” and “Something Big”. It later became part of Commonwealth theatres and United Artists, who closed it shortly after the Tinseltown USA opened. Grand opening ad posted.
Closed on February 16, 1998. The Pueblo Twin managed to operate a little longer after the nearby Tinseltown’s opening.
This theatre was called the Cinema 1 and 2. It was beautiful. The doormen wore tuxedos. I was the assistant manager from 1979 to 1981. Promoted and moved to the Copper Théâtre downtown. The main manager was Stephen Walter Laveirge. (Life of the theatre).
