Opened as the American Theatre on October 15, 1914. On July 20, 1948 it became the McCutchen Theatre, and is listed in the 1950 edition of Film Daily Yearbook, where the theatre’s name is spelt ‘McCutheon’. Seating was provided for 833 in the orchestra level and 185-seats in the balcony. It was closed on May 8, 1977.
It was converted into a church, accommodating the congregation of a nearby church which had burnt down two weeks after the theatre closed.

What is going o with the McCutchen now. I went over there several years ago and was interested in buying. Someone told me the roof had completely fell in. I just left. I bought a theater that had severe roof problems and didnt want to go throught that again.
This was the American Theatre, which opened in the late 1920’s.
The American Theatre was open as early as 1926.
