The GKC Capri had opened for George Kersotes' circuit in December of 1998. Carmike Cinemas took on the venue in a $66 million acquisition of GKC. That deal included both Indiana GKC locations both here and Elkhart. In 2016, AMC took on the Carmike circuit. That included a rebrand of the vast majority of theaters. In February of 2017, AMC created a branding strategy for the vast majority of inherited Carmike, Starplex, and other acquired venues called AMC Classic. The vast majority of these locations would run to end of lease, many not getting the make-overs with expanded food options and major projection options that were found in the AMC portfolio.

AMC had closed temporarily in Crawfordsville and everywhere else on March 16, 2020 for the COVID-19 pandemic. It reopened on September 3, 2020. It once again closed August 24, 2026. The health department cited mold in all 8 auditoriums as the reason for the temporary closure. Heading towards its leasing expiry, AMC decided to close up here rather than take on the project. The final shows were: Spider-Man: BND, Insidious: OOTF, Paw Patrol: TDM, One Night Only, Super-Troopers 3, Mutiny, The End of Oak Street, and The Odyssey - which had ended.
