Liberty Theatre (2)

It is believed this site is where the Princess Theatre opened in July of 1913. A Sandborn Fire Insurance Map from March of 1914 lists this location a ‘motion pictures’. Sometime after it operated as the New Theatre until March 28, 1939. The New Theatre was operated by H.H. Baker & R.V. McGinnis. It was closed for a week for redecorating and referred to as the New Liberty Theatre until March 28, 1939 when the former Gem Theatre had been renovated and reopened as the Howard Theatre. The Liberty Theatre operation was moved from its location on W. Howard Street (It has its own page on Cinema Treasures)

The Liberty Theatre was still open in 1957. In 2016 a building on the site is occupied by Woods and Woods Accounting.
