The August 18, 1948 issue of Variety reported, “Dave Forbes has opened his new Court Theatre, a 200-seater, Vienna, Ill. (sic)”

The 1950 Film Daily Year Book listed the Court Theatre in Vienna MO, 200 seats.

In October 1952, the Independent Film Journal wrote that Forbes, who was building a drive-in Waynesville MO, “operated the Court Theatre in Vienna until several weeks ago, when it was taken over by Louise O. Chambers”. The Court Theatre was closed on January 30, 1956 with Bud Abbott & Lou Costello in “Abbott & Costello Meet the Mummy”.

The Court Theatre was the first movie theater to operate in Vienna since the nearby Vienna Theatre closed in early-1946, leaving moviegoers to go see movies in either Rolla or Belle.
