Theatre

This theatre appears on the 1912 Sanborn, offering vaudeville and motion pictures. The building was constructed late-1901 or early-1902. The October 1901 map shows the foundation, with a note that it is to be ‘built at once’.

The building was shaped like an L, with entrances off of Main Street and Sunset Street, with the theatre being located in the long arm of the L. This space is shown as vacant on the 1907 map.

For whatever reason, this business was not a success, and the 1917 map shows a printer located there. Sometime around 1950, the façade was completely remodeled, and the space today is vacant retail.

Sunset is an avenue, not a street. I don’t think it’s really necessary to add in the long form on my entries. At least in American English, if I say ‘Corner of 6th and Main’, everyone knows exactly what that means.
