The Liberty Theatre was opened by 1931. It was gutted by a fire in the 1950’s and was refurbished and reopened as the Llano Theatre with 250 seats.

There was a Liberty Theater in Plains in 1950. No opening date for the Llano is given, so it’s unknown as to whether the Liberty was an earlier incarnation or a different theater.
The actual address of the LLANO Theatre is given as 114 East Rail Road in Plains, Montana.
The original Theatre was the Liberty that opened in 1931. That is the building that was sestroyed by the fire.
This theater has been open continuously since about 1919, and my family currently runs it. It is only open on weekends, so if you are there on a weekday it would be closed. The only time it doesn’t show a movie is during the county fair, which is Labor Day weekend. The Llano theater shows a movie every weekend, on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 8:00 pm, with matinees for all PG and G movies on Sundays at 3:00 pm. Admission prices are $5 for 13 and older, $4 for 12 and under.
This theatre is still open.

Boxoffice, June 6, 1977: “Dean T. Baird, who operated the Llano Theatre, Plains, Mont., has sold that facility to Wesley Ekstrom.”
The Llano and the Liberty Theatre are actually two different movie theaters in Plains. The Liberty, which opened as the Green Room Theatre, continued to operate for a little longer right after the Llano Theatre’s opening in early-1951. The Liberty will have its own CT page soon.
Unfortunately a fire destroyed the Llano in 1954 and was rebuilt that same year, housing 250 seats in a 24x57ft auditorium, Vocalite screen, chartreuse monks cloth walls, and a mixture of deep forest green and bright yellow melba plush backgrounds. The number of seats has been downgraded to 130.
