There’s not a lot of information about this theater. The Marunouchi Toei opened its doors on September 20, 1960 as a Toei-operated single-screener.

A second screen named the Marunouchi Toei Palace (later the Marunouchi Champs-Élysées since March 11, 1989 due to a policy change) was added a few years later in the 1960’s.

Despite still operational as of November 2024, a redevelopment of the building was planned in mid-2025 due to its aging, with the theater itself scheduled to close. From then on, film exhibitions will be handled by T-Joy and Toei’s directly managed theaters will disappear. It was also due to Toei’s headquarters relocation to Kyobashi Edogrand and a commercial facility centered around a hotel and shops is scheduled to be completed by 2029. The Marunouchi Toei was closed on July 27, 2025.

The Marunouchi Toei has closed for the final time on July 27, 2025. This comes five days after Toei’s headquarters, located in the Toei Kaikan building where the theater was located, was relocated to Kyobashi Edogrand in Kyobashi 2-chome, Chuo Ward.
