This theater appears on the 1918 Sanborn, in one of three tin-fronted two story brick commercial buildings likely constructed sometime around 1890. The 1909 map shows hardware and furniture sold here.
The 1914-15 AMPD lists the Oak and Unique Theatres. One of these seems to have closed by 1918. It is possible that one was located in an old wooden opera house which was used as grocery storage in 1909, but appears to have reopened on the 1918 map.
No later maps exist, but it is possible this theater became the Liberty Theatre, which appears in the 1926 yearbook. That theatre is still listed with 300 seats in 1947. It seems to have closed that year.
The building has been very poorly treated, and each of the three sections is progressively more remuddled as you go north. The cornice has been stripped off this section, and the upper windows are covered. A storefront that may date to the late-1950’s has been added. It is a barber shop.
