Owner Darrell Moseley and manager Clyde Jacobs first operated the 350-seat Center Theatre. It first opened softly on April 17, 1966 as an “open house” but had its official grand opening on April 21, 1966 with Tom Tyron in “The Glory Guys” and Rick Nelson in “Love And Kisses” along with a few unnamed cartoons. Clyde’s role as a manager didn’t last long, and was later taken over by Morna Cherry.

This was the first indoor movie theater to operate in Scottsville since the November 1957 fire that destroyed the Lyric Theatre caused by an exploding furnace. Otherwise, the fire left the Starlite Drive-In as the only theater in Scottville until the Center Theatre’s launch.

Its closing date remains unknown, but was still open into the 1980’s.
