Deacon Richard James Walsh and Judith Rae Strange Walsh brought indoor films back to Bardstown for the first time in 13 years when they opened the Bardstown Twin Cinema and Bardstown Bowling Center. The $350,000 investment was worth it as the theater completed a 20-year leasing cycle sstarting on January 11, 1979 with “Superman” and “Every Which Way But Loose”.
The venue dropped “twin” becoming the Bardstown Cinemas. In 1999, the Keystone Cinemas were built opening on December 17, 1999. It appeared that the Twin would not make it but they, apparently, said, “Bring it on!” The Bardstown Cinema finally threw in the towel on August 30, 2000 with “Godzilla” and, splitting a screen, were “Scary Movie” and “Bring it On!” The venue was refreshed as a gymnasium.
