Roof Garden Theatre

This unusual theater was placed on top of a very old one story stone commercial building, which was constructed sometime before 1884. By February 1911, an open topped tin clad wooden structure had appeared on top. It was rather elaborate, with a bay at the front and one at the rear along the side. Entry was by a staircase in the alley.

This theatre was still operating in November 1916, but the 1924 map shows it vacant. At some point the structure was removed. The 1931 and 1945 maps are not available online, but this surely took place many years ago.

The building had a very ugly slipcover, but this has likewise been removed. It was a pawn shop, but seems to be vacant.
