The Bijou Airdome is the sister theater to the nearby indoor house in Pensacola known as the Bijou Theatre and was originally owned by W.C. Pooley of Mobile, Alabama, launching on May 3, 1909 with a few unnamed films alongside comedy performances by comedians simply named Clements and Lee, music performances by eccentric singers known as the Kimball Brothers, and sporting performances by acrobat Earl Wright and gymnasts simply named Vontelle and Nina. Overture music by the Airdome Orchestra was presented before each act.
The Bijou name was dropped before the 1910 season. At around the same time, its original manager, Thomas Kerr, disappeared from Pensacola and his whereabouts were unknown according to its owner. The Airdome reopened for the season but it officially closed after that season and was demolished shortly afterward.
