On 23rd June 1928 it was taken over by Savoy Cinemas (a subsidiary of the Associated British Cinemas(ABC) chain). In 1937 ABC built the 2,515-seat Westover Super Cinema adjacent to the Westover Palace Cinema. The Westover Super Cinema (later ABC) (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures) was opened on 19th June 1937 and the Westover Palace Cinema had closed the previous day 18th June 1937.

Following closure it became Forte’s Restaurant. It has since been demolished and a new building on the site contains a mix of restaurants and retail units.
