The Hub Theatre operated in the silent era as early as the 1910’s. It was taken over and operated by the American Legion in 1933. It closed on April 9, 1939 with Joan Crawford in “The Shining Hour” along with a newsreel and a few unnamed shorts when the nearby Legion Theatre opened three days later.

A brief history of Gaylord’s American Legion post in the April 8, 2017 issue of the Mankato Free Press said that the post took over operation of the Hub theatre in 1933, and acquired another building for renovation into the Legion theatre in 1938.
