Note the bicycles, a primary means of transportation before cars came into wider use. The famous film Bicycle Thief (Thieves) would be made in 1948. This picture is from 1944/46.

This theatre is located between St. Mary Major, where Pope Francis is interred, and St. John Lateran, where the Lateran Accords were signed in 1929.
