Teatro Brancaccio

Opened in January 1916 as the Teatro Morgana. It was remodeled in 1937 and with 2,000-seats it was renamed Teatro Brancaccio. It was both a legitimate theatre and a cinema. The auditorium contains two horse-shoe shaped balconies. Film footage from the war years show it called Cinema-Teatro Brancaccio. Many famous artists have appeared on its stage, including Anna Magnan, Louis Armstrong and Jimi Hendrix. It has also served as an opera house for many years. Over the past decades it has served as a prime stage venue for the city of Rome, presenting large scale touring musicals, plays and dance.

This Roman theatre is located on the street between the basilicas of St. Mary Major and Saint John Lateran.
