Aiglon

Located in L'Aigle in Normandy north France. Construction on this cinema began in 1957, and it opened its doors the following year.

It has a single auditorium with 551 seats, including 208 in the balcony.

Following the opening of a new three-screen complex named Cinema L'Aiglon, this cinema unfortunately closed its doors on September 12, 2023.

The future of this historic cinema, owned by the municipality, seems very uncertain.

A local heritage preservation association, “Les Amis de L'Aigle,” is trying to take action to preserve this beautiful theater and would like to have it listed as a historic building to prevent its demolition in favor of a real estate project.

It should be noted that “L'Aiglon” is the twin brother of the ‘Ambiance’ cinema in Senonches (28), built identically in the same year, which was classified as “Characteristic Heritage of the 20th Century” by the DRAC in 2016, and thus saved.

May the Aiglon” meet the same fate!
