Opened in 1947, the now defunct Rex cinema had a single 800-seat auditorium and a 7-by-4-meter stage, allowing it to offer singing performances in addition to movie screenings.
In the early-1980’s, the establishment was transformed into a complex with three auditoriums (seating 166, 120, and 90), to which a fourth auditorium seating 342 was added in 1993.
The cinema closed its doors for good on November 5, 2019, following the opening of a multiplex in the city center near the train station.
The former cinema, whose façade has been preserved, has been converted to accommodate three activities: a cabaret called “La Sirène à Barbe", a fitness center, and a co-working space.

The cinema closed its doors for good on November 5, 2019, following the opening of a multiplex in the city center near the train station. La sirène à Barbe is a cabaret, not a movie theater! So the correct name is REX!
