Essex Cinemas 1-4

The Essex Twin Cinema opened its doors on February 6, 1974 with Donald Sutherland in “M-A-S-H” in Screen 1 and Joe Don Baker in “Walking Tall” in Screen 2. Both auditoriums were divided in half in May 1983, becoming the Essex Cinemas 1-2-3-4.

Unfortunately, its life as a quad only lasted almost three years. Screens 3 and 4 closed in February 1986, leaving Screens 1 and 2 remaining until the following year, when its final closure occurred on November 11, 1987 with “Robocop” in Screen 1 and “The Big Easy” in Screen 2.
