Theater

This early theater was operational around 1908. It was located in a large one story wooden building which in 1885 was the Council Grove Skating Rink and 1887 as an opera house.

By 1892, it had become an implement dealer, and by 1900 it was a bowling alley. By 1908, it had become a skating rink, part of a huge wave of popularity. Movies seem to have been a sideline, since the 1914 map shows only skating.

By 1922, this building had been demolished to be replaced by a small filling station, the first of several to occupy this corner. The current structure appears to date to around 1970.
