The Ritz Theatre opened its doors on October 10, 1929 by J.W. McWhirtler and T.G. Sykes. Its opening movie remains unknown at this time, but it also opened with a live minstrel show. The show contains Virginia Phippen having her own song and dance number, a dance performance by the Wallace Brothers, and a musical performance by Henry Gregory. The original stage drop represents a garden scene entitled “The Blue Lake” by Mrs. J.A. Seay.

The Ritz Theatre was briefly renamed the Legion Theatre in 1939 before renaming it again the Dover Theatre that same year. It was still open in 1960, but its closing date remains unknown at this time.
