Metro Cinema

Located on Station Road at the corner of High Mead in Harrow, Middlesex, today a northern part of Greater London. The former Dominion Cinema on the site was demolished, apart from its splendid Streamline Moderne style facade designed by architect Frank Ernest Bromige. (It has its own page on Cinema Treasures as the Safari Cinema).

A block of flats was built on the site of the auditorium of the Safari Cinema, and beneath them on the ground floor 3-screens have been created. With seating provided for 70, 100 & 150 they opened as the Metro Cinema on 14th November 2025. Operated by Asif Sahil, as Metro Cinema (Harrow) Ltd., the Metro Cinema will screen a mix of films aimed to be as inclusive as possible to Harrow’s diverse communities. Films in all languages, including English! One of the first films screened was “Christmas Karma” a Bollywood musical inspired by Charles Dickens “A Christmas Carol”.
