Golden Star Theaters Austintown Cinema

Originally home to the Regal Austintown Plaza. Regal opened the cinema on December 5, 1997. It operated there until December 12, 2019.

The Austintown Plaza had opened theatre-less by Edward J. DeBartolo in 1959. During a 25th-year refresh by new owners, the plaza added a Hills Department Store and a Valu King supermarket as anchors and also added the Austintown Movies - a three screen theater that had opened in May of 1976. In the megaplex era, Regal built a 10-screen cinema at the edge of the plaza as an outparcel.

Surprisingly, the 3-plex survived co-existing with the 10-plex and playing discount and art films. Cleveland Cinemas took on the venue in 2001 operating it to closure. Regal left in December 2019 but Golden Star came in placing $2.5 million in the venue including expanded food options and recliner seating. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic sidelined the operation until its grand opening on August 28, 2020.
