A note in the August 2, 1952 edition of Boxoffice magazine said that Mr. and Mrs. William Schearer had opened a new drive-in on Highway 136 just outside of Wayland MO. Grounds for a future playground had also been leveled off.
The 1955-56 Theatre Catalog included the “Starlite D.I. (Kahoka)” on Highway 136, owner William Schearer, capacity 100 cars.
A 1956 aerial photo showed a small drive-in two miles west of Wayland on US 136. A house occupies the site today.
