The Strand Theatre was opened on Saturday, December 11, 1920. The premiere picture Sam Wood-directed truck driving epic “What’s Your Hurry?” starring the doomed Wallace Reid. It was preceded by the Mack Sennett comedy short “Let ‘er Go.”

The theatre was opened by Nebraska transplants Booth & Sons, who not long after also acquired the American Theatre in town. The Strand Theatre was closed in 1930 when the slightly larger King Theatre opened just along 12th Street.

Since at least 2008 it has operated as a Barron auto supply store.
