The Illinois Theatre on the site of the old Eagle Theatre opened its doors on March 12, 1932 with Will Rogers in “Business And Pleasure” along with the Jimmie Gleason short “Slow Poison”, a Ripley’s Believe It Or Not short, and an unnamed cartoon.

Owned and operated by Roy M. Kennedy and Paul Stonum, the Illinois Theatre features installations of RCA Photophone sound, a fireproof projection room, and a touch of Old Spain for the entire house. The auditorium colors were mixed with red predominating throughout the entirety of the auditorium, mezzanine, balcony and lobby, but also has trims of the colors of blue, green, gold, and ivory.

It was located on 115 S. Locust Street at the same address as the old Eagle, and closed when the Roseland Theatre opened nearby in February 1940.
