The Deluxe Theatre was a short-lived theatre in downtown Covington, Louisiana. Charles Sidney August “Sid” Fuhrmann had been the lone wolf in Covington motion picture operation for nearly 30 years. It dated back to 1913 with the Parkview Theatre opening with silent films and its replacement, the Majestic Theatre in 1926.
But in 1942 when competitor Warren J. Salles announced his new, Star Theatre, Salles took quick action here. He took an existing and available retail spot and gave it a front and new attractor, over 500 theatre seats and projection to create the Deluxe Theatre. It opened a month earlier than Salles' Star Theatre. The Deluxe Theatre debuted on March 27, 1942 with Judy Canova in “Sleepytime Gal”.
Salles took control soon buying out the competition closing the Deluxe Theatre and adding air conditioner to both the Star Theatre and Majestic Theatre in 1949. He and his two sons added a Drive-In Theatre in July of 1952 which was essentially the end of the Majestic Theatre. The former Deluxe Theatre returned to retail operation and the former Majestic Theatre became a bank.

Not to be confused with the Deluxe Theatre in Slidell, which was also advertised on the St. Tammany Farmer.
