Located in the city centre of Montevideo, in a modern building. The Cine Opera was opened in 1952 as a single screen cinema with seating in orchestra and balcony levels. In recent years it has been twinned with seating provided for 230 and 240.
It was the setting for the neo-Giallo style horror thriller film “The Last Matinee” (2020) which was filmed entirely on location inside the cinema.
