Zemeckis, Hanks to Close Chicago Int'l Film Festival

CHICAGO, IL — The closing night of the 40th Chicago International Film Festival on October 21st (the event kicks off October 7th at the Chicago Theatre) will feature Chicago native Robert Zemeckis and actor Tom Hanks live at the Cadillac Palace Theatre.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Zemeckis is to be presented with the Career Achievement Award. Zemeckis' new animated film, “The Polar Express”, starring Hanks, will be shown at the Palace.

Hanks also appeared in the director/producer’s “Forrest Gump” and “Cast Away”. The Festival, the oldest in North America, will feature 30 films this year, in addition to film discussions and special events. Other venues hosting the Festival this year include the AMC River East 21, Landmark’s Century Centre Cinemas, and Northwestern University’s Thorne Auditorium.
