Golden Age Revival Theater opens in Westwood
WESTWOOD, NJ — After more than a year of anticipation, the new repertory Rosebud Theater opened last week.
Owner Ray Walsh says of the people of Westwood, “Not only does this town have some real charm, but we were really overwhelmed by the support we received from the people here.”
Walsh, a retired scout for the New York Giants, says that he received countless e-mails and positive comments encouraging his business venture. “It was really nice to see that people welcomed us here,” he says of The Rosebud.

Movie Theater in Fairmont set to reopen
FAIRMONT, MN — Two and half years after closing, the Lakes Cinema is making a pleasant return. Locals had been clamoring to get their theatre back and thanks to a rental option for digital equipment, it’s viable again.

Maple rises again
BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI — The Maple Theatre reopened last weekend after two years in darkness. Featuring art house and mainstream films, the newly renovated theatre includes a bar and dine-in seats in each auditorium.

Dobie to rise again?
AUSTIN, TX — Closed since 2010, the Dobie Theatre may open again soon. The owners want to provide a less expensive moviegoing option for the area but there’s plenty of competition.

West Dover theater reopens under MHCA banner
WEST DOVER, VT — After two dark years, the former Mountain Park Cinema is back and better than ever. The MHCA (formerly Memorial Hall Center for the Arts), a non-profit organization, purchased the theatre and upgraded the projection and interior as well. They plan to show films regularly Wednesday through Sunday.

Getting Center City movie theater a second run wasn’t easy
PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Roxy Theater had a triumphant return this past December after almost two years since closing. They poured nearly $1 Million into to to update the theatre inside and out besides of course the new projectors. The 160 that get to watch each screening now get a luxury experience and the Philadelphia Film Society has a permanent home.

North Park to reopen Friday
BUFFALO, NY — The North Park Theatre is reopening this Friday March 7 with lots of excitement on the horizon. The renovations, rumored to be as much as $250K, will have the theatre looking good as new. What’s even better is they’re aggressively trying to book more films with a greater turnover in order to give their loyal audiences the most options.

Raising the curtain on the Cary
CARY, NC — The Cary Theater will open to the public this weekend after a $6.2 million dollar renovation and expansion which includes live shows and classic movies. The project on the 1946 theater took over a year and the theatre has never looked better.

Glen Cove movie theater to reopen in April
GLEN COVE, NY — Glen Cove Theatres was set to reopen this month but now it’s looking more like April. It’ll be worth the wait though as they’ve installed digital projectors, new seats and even a children’s game room. The future of the theatre was in doubt but with new local ownership and support, they appear set for the future.

New Quality 10 GDX opens today with benefit $1 movies
SAGINAW, MI — Goodrich Quality Theaters' new state-of-the-art Quality 10 GDX opens today with dollar movies to benefit the Covenant Kids Foundation. Among the amenities this station offers is a 30 x 70 GDX screen, the largest indoor screen size north of Flint, Dolby Atmos sound on three of its theaters, two 3D capable screens, all stadium seating and all digital projection. First run films showing at regular prices will begin on Friday.
