All big screen television. Bring in the beer, pizza, and chips. Let’s watch the football game.

This theater should be rebuilt. It’s needed now more than ever.

This is terrible news. I know that the owner was fighting with the city over fire sprinklers. The city would rather have a closed business I guess.

The auditoium interior is very similar to the State Theater in Olympia, Washington.

According to tv news reports today, the fire department confirmed the fire was started by a motor that caught fire inside an HVAC unit. Damage estimates are $250,000 to the building, but the building is still open for business while repairs take place.

I heard the rumored purchase price was 1 Billion!

Well I guess that means Century is down the crapper now.

Bigscreenbiz.com forums (“The Lobby” section) has a thread going on theaters for sale/lease with quite a few listings now. Worth checking out.

KenLayton commented about Mount St. Helens Cinedome on Jul 22, 2006 at 7:06 am

A few years ago they installed conventional 35mm theater projectors in addition to the Imax stuff. The Imax movies weren’t generating enough revenue so they reverted to regular 35mm first run movies.

By the way, the asking price for this theater is way too high!

Lincoln Plaza 8 is available for lease or sale. This theater had THX certified auditoriums. I’d sure like to see this theater reopened. Someone is taking good care of the place now. The grounds are meticulously trimmed/cleaned and the building is kept free of graffitti/vandalism.

Corey:

You’re thinking of the Tacoma Mall Twin theater that was demolished two years ago. Krispy Kreme replaced that theater.

This 8 plex Lincoln Plaza has been closed for several years.

KenLayton commented about New stewards for Needles Theater on Jul 17, 2006 at 5:06 am

This is very good news indeed! I wish you good luck and much success with this project. If there are no large chain-owned theaters in your area, I’ve heard that Regal Cinemas has sometimes donated equipment (projection, sound, seats, concession, etc.) to projects like this. You need to contact Regal Cinemas corporate HQ in Knoxville, Tennessee and talk to the west coast operations person about getting a donation. Regal just donated some equipment to the single screen Roxy Theater in Morton, Washington (check out their theater at www.firemac.org))

Norelco didn’t say the power went out. He said the storm knocked out the video system. Video projectors like the computer that controls it are sensitive to power line spikes/noise and brownouts. The storm probably scrambled/corrurpted/damaged the video system. Probably blew out the main computer control board and power supply I would think. This would certainly not have affected a film projection setup.

In my area of the country, Washington state, any power outages we experience at theaters is usually after 9 pm.

You owe it to yourself to check out the Rodeo 3 drive-in over on highway 3 next to the Bremerton airport. The picture and sound quality will blow you away. They have brand new playground equipment for the kids too. They also have an extensive menu of food to please every taste.

I live in the Pacific Northwest and I’ve never heard that name before. What city/state are these theaters in? The most well known and prolific theater operator here in the northwest is Tom Moyer.
