100 to 200 seats? in a town of 26,000? You better keep the ticket and concession prices prices reasonable if you intend to keep a movie theatre of that size in operation. You could have your night time price be $5.00 for adults and $2.50 for kids 12 and under with $2.50 matinee pricing and a flat $5.00 price for midnight shows.

Perhaps set a day during the middle of the week for matinee pricing all day.

Keep concession prices just as low and who knows.

How far is it to the nearest theatre from your area?

Run “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and you’re assured a nice size crowd on a Saturday night. Just remember to post rules regarding what,if any, props you’ll allow in.

“Heavy Metal”,“Pink Floyd:The Wall” & “Eraserhead” are good,as well.

IMDB doesn’t seem to list a “Run,Run Joe” but there was a Saturday morning kids show called “Run,Joe,Run!” about a fugitive dog.

It ran on NBC for two seasons,1974-‘76.

Was this movie released undder another name?

Being a fan of old-school marquees, does anyone have any pics from this one. I loved Farrels. There was one near where i used to live in Downey.(i grew up,partially,in Cudahy but went to Downey all the time)

Growing up in nearby Cudahy,i saw many movies here.

Before moving to Texas with my parents in 1977,the last thing i remember seeing here was “Silver Streak” on a double bill with “Phantom of the Paradise” in ‘76.

This was the place to see Disney movies,as well

Why the hell was “The Unborn” dumped at the Chinese? “Defiance” or “Notorious” would have been much classier choices than another stupid American screw up of an Asian horror flick.

This was an OK twin, opened as a single screen by Fox West Coast,it had a large screen downstairs and a smaller one up a staircase where the original balcony was back in its hey day.

When i was a kid in the ‘80s,both screens would have triple features for a $1.50 “Platoon”,“Spaceballs”,“Hiding Out” and the Prince concert movie “Sign O’ The Times” were just a sample of movies that played here.

A couple doors away was one of the last surviving Pussycat theatres at the time.

Why doesn’t film maker John Waters get involved? All his movies premiere here as he has stated that it’s his favorite theatre and has been since he was a kid growing up in Baltimore, which is where he set most of his most famous films.(“Pink Flamingos”,“Hairspray”,etc.)

I should have noted that i was living in Houston,TX just a few months before moving to Las Vegas,NV in early 1979,though it was still 1978 when i saw it. Which is why i asked about the Northline Mall.

I’m ALMOST positive it played in 70mm at the Mann Fox in Vegas.

I saw the original “Raiders of the Losr Ark” here in 1981 in 70mm. I also saw “Victor/Victoria” with Julie Andrews here in 1982.

Not sure if SRO owned it first(i knowthey did when i saw the above mentioned titles)but i do know that when SRO left Southern California in 1984,Pacific Theatres took over and added two screens before closing it by the end of the decade.

Having moved to the area nearly 3 years ago,(I live in nearby Calimesa)I’ve been here several times. It’s not a favorite, sad to say.

The lobby is small and cramped, there’s a game room to your left as you enter the building that looks like it was a lounge.

The two screens in the front half half of the place are small, but not that bad. the sound is ok.

That third screen, where they move certain movies from the main screens,is a nightmare. Located in the back of the building and accessible,at least for wheelchairs, through a side door in the parking lot with help from an “usher”.

It’s tiny(about 200 seats,i guess)and smells.

It looks like it used to ba an office or something.

It’s a bargain,though,at $5.00 general admission.
