Montello Theater (Official)
Previous Names: Opera House, Dodge's Opea House
Small town Wisconsin theatre in a village of only 1,400. The 250-seat Opera House was built by 1878. By 1936 it had been renamed Montello Theatre. It is on the main drag in a resort community, across the street from a scenic waterfall which was built into an old quarry.
Very funky in appearance, the building looks to have been a church in a previous incarnation. It is a narrow, one story frame structure, with a false front which has pseudo columns framing the entrance. On the sides of auditorium are tall blocked-off window openings, which give it the churchly appearance.
Family fare is what’s screened here. New owners took over in August 2022 and renovations are taking place. It reopened on September 16, 2022.
