Fort Drive-In

The Fort Drive-In was opened around August 1951. I believe it closed for good in 1980. The screen still stands, but there are now apartments built on the lot.

The address given is incorrect.

The address for this drive in was 1527 W Jackson St, Macomb, IL. Now the western division of Aspen Court Apartments across the Mexican restaurant.

The address previously given is further east in downtown Macomb. Please update.

I love when there are still remnants of closed Drive-Ins around…but it would be weird heading out to the balcony of your apartment to relax and enjoy your view…of a giant movie screen in a mini forest.

But if you have a projector you can show your own movies out the back of your apartment on a giant screen.

The August 8, 1951 issue of The Exhibitor reported that Al Tribbett was named manager of the Fort Drive-In, Macomb, Ill. So it was probably open then.
