The Okeechobee Drive-In opened around 1950/1951 when it was operated by Exhibitors Service. It was the first drive-in theatre to open in Okeechobee. It was located on S. Parrott Avenue at S.W. 9th Street (today a location for the Sun Trust Bank building). By 1952 it was operated by R.F. Macks, and had a capacity for 102 cars.

It was a block or a block and a half away from the campus of Okeechobee High School, which was at 700 S.W. Second Avenue. A new campus for Okeechobee High School was constructed on N. Highway 441, and the class of 1969 was the first to graduate from there. The Okeechobee Drive-In closed sometime before 1970.

I believe the address is wrong-it appears from Google Earth timeline that the theatre was on the corner of NW 23rd Lane & N Parrot Ave (US-19) by the high school.
