The Grand Theatre building was built in the late-1890’s as an opera house and dance hall which was patronized by African Americans. The building was later converted into a movie theatre. The Grand Theatre is listed in the 1945 Film Daily Yearbook as closed with 475 seats. In the 1950’s the theatre was converted into a night club.
