Savoy Cinema

Located in Lupset, to the west of Wakefield, Yorkshire. The 1,100-seat Savoy Cinema was opened prior to 1946. It had a 30 feet wide proscenium and was equipped with a British Thomson Houston(BTH) sound system. It was independently operated by Savoy Picture House (Huddersfield) Ltd, based in Leeds.

By 1963 it was listed with 500 seats, and had a café and dance hall attached. The proscenium was now 36 feet wide to accommodate CinemaScope. Operated since 1948 by District Cinemas Ltd. of Leeds. It had closed by 1966.
